Marine fossils

êèå ëèëèè), ðàêóøêèSpecial containment procedures: SCP-477 must be in the building with climate control, labelled as Area 44. The building was built using only metal and wood, no stone or concrete building materials. Externally it looks like a hangar for storage of equipment non-existent career, but in fact there are numerous laboratories, which are essential for learning and maintenance of SCP-477. Samples of sedimentary rocks or concrete items allowed to be taken out for limits of complex content, only after grinding and mixing with acidic clay slurry to dissolve the entire fossil material was found.

Individuals of SCP-477, appeared outside the Zone 44 must be immediately captured and returned to the complex, or destroyed by shredding and acid treatment of the substrate carrier.

Description: a Thin layer of Cambrian slate, covering an area of about 2 km2 on the plateau, Mongolia. Deposits rich in fossils preserved in water, collectively designated as SCP-477. These fossils are remarkable for both its diversity and the fact that they are able to move and imitate life, floating in the thick stone as if it was the ocean that they lived 520 million years ago.

Individuals of SCP-477 are able to move through all tested types of sedimentary rocks, with no visible resistance. In atomistic main threat to the successful maintenance, as the revived fossil escaped into another geological formation that is very difficult to catch (not eliminated, and reproduction of escaped, see the incident 477-01). They are unable to leave their stone habitats for the movement in an aqueous or gaseous medium and can’t pass through soil, sand, clay and other porous substrates.

In the construction Zone 44 were detected fossils, are able to pass through the hardened concrete and to dwell in it. The construction and the conditions were changed accordingly, all contaminated concrete is destroyed.

Today in SCP-477 was cataloged almost 900 species of fossils, many unknown to official science. Presented prey, herbivores and plants, they all interact with each other in accordance with the functioning of the ecosystem. Despite the absence of any soft tissues or biochemistry, which is necessary to sustain life, fossils are able to move, eat and reproduce as if they were alive. Judging by the fact that the fossil layer was under the earth for millions of years, Photosynthesis is not important for the ecology of SCP-477. The process by which organisms get energy, not installed.

The researchers of the Foundation carefully removed the 9-inch layer of shale to facilitate research and observation of SCP-477.

The incident 477-01: a Large piece of rock containing several instances of SCP-477 was somehow obtained by the natural history Museum and put on display. He was placed in such a way that the contact with Sandstone of the Western wall of the Museum, allowing one or more organisms to escape and reproduce. By that time, when there arrived the staff of the Foundation, the building was infested with thousands of creatures, which led to the weakening of the structural integrity and destruction of the inner wall. Old wing of the Museum was demolished and crushed into powder in the framework of the project of reconstruction announced by the management of the Museum.
